Jonathan Ellett practices in the firm’s Civil Rights department. Drawing on his experience as a federal agency attorney, Mr. Ellett brings an in-house counsel perspective to complex legal and regulatory matters, with particular experience reviewing proposed agency actions, litigation materials, legal memoranda, and policy initiatives for legal risk and strategic considerations.

Before joining Siri & Glimstad, Mr. Ellett served as a Policy Advisor and Attorney with the United States Department of Labor. In that role, he advised senior DOL leadership on significant regulatory, litigation, and policy matters; reviewed and helped draft agency reports, amicus briefs, and other legal materials; and prepared decision memoranda, options memoranda, and comparative legal analyses concerning statutory and regulatory proposals. He also helped develop federal rulemaking and sub-regulatory initiatives, represented DOL in interagency and stakeholder proceedings, and prepared briefing materials for senior officials, including the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Labor. Most notably during his time at DOL, Mr. Ellett contributed to the drafting, editing, publication, and implementation of the 2025 Adverse Effect Wage Rate Interim Final Rule, as well as leading the effort to publish sub-regulatory guidance related to the trucking industry and English language proficiency.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Ellett served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Mark W. Carmean of the Calvert County Circuit Court, where he was responsible for drafting judicial opinions, court orders, case summaries, and legal research memoranda in both civil and criminal matters. He also has experience in analyzing federal immigration litigation and conducting statutory and legislative history research through his time working for a prominent think tank.

Mr. Ellett earned his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School, where he was an active member in the Federalist Society and served on the Federal Circuit Bar Journal, and earned a B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, from the University of California, Irvine. He is admitted to the District of Columbia Bar.
