A nonimmigrant visa allows a foreign national to enter the United States temporarily for a specific purpose, such as tourism, business, education, employment, or cultural exchange. Unlike immigrant visas, nonimmigrant visas are generally intended for individuals who plan to remain in the United States for a limited period before returning to their home country. Each visa category has its own eligibility requirements, permitted activities, and length of stay.
