After graduate school, Dr. Menendez obtained a post-doctoral fellowship in cardiovascular biology at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Here, he applied his knowledge of infectious disease and immunology toward understanding the role sterile inflammation plays in cardiovascular system development and was awarded independent funding through the selective American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship. During his tenure at OMRF, Dr. Menendez’s work resulted in many scientific publications, including in the journals of Cell Death and Differentiation, and Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, and co-authoring chapters in scientific textbooks. Dr. Menendez was routinely selected to give talks at international scientific conferences to share his discoveries with leading biologists in his relevant field.
As a scientific advisor for the firm, Dr. Menendez work includes working toward assuring that regulatory health agencies and pharmaceutical companies adhere to the same standards of scientific rigor he was accustomed to while in academia.
