About the Anytime Fitness biometrics action
The Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), 740 ILCS § 14/15 (2008), states, “A private entity in possession of biometric identifiers or biometric information must develop a written policy, made available to the public…”. BIPA further states that “a written release executed by the subject…” is required in order to lawfully collect biometric data.
Holding Them Accountable!
The Biometric Information Privacy Act was put in place to protect you. 740 ILCS § 14/5(c) (2008) reasons that “Biometrics are unlike other unique identifiers that are used to access… sensitive information. For example, social security numbers, when compromised, can be changed. Biometrics, however, are biologically unique to the individual; therefore, once compromised, the individual has no recourse, is at heightened risk for identity theft, and is likely to withdraw from biometric-facilitated transactions.” If our investigation proves true, you may be entitled to compensation. Fill out the intake form below to see if you qualify as a lead plaintiff. There is NO OUT-OF-POCKET COST for representation!
